So, our Hoi An Farming and Fishing Tour will begin with pick – up at your hotel and then we cycle along the small and narrow lanes of Hoi An ancient town. We will then passing by the local market where you will see from the meal’s ingredients – alive fish, pork, chicken, vegetable, flowers to clothes ect.
Biking around tranquil Hoi An
Next, we pedal past rice fields and vegetable farms along small canals and waterways towards Hoi An’s most beautiful village. After that, we will stop at a farmer’s house in village and be warmly welcome by the host with the traditional herb drink.
Like the other farmers in the village, this house owner has a small field where his family do farming twice a year for food supply. Today, he will share and tell you all about the rice production with the use of very basic tools of his family.
First, you will go to the rice field and have fun with buffalo ride. He will take you along the side of the field and you will have a fantastic fun ride with him. Next, you will go into the field, learning how to use a wooden cart to plough and rake the field. You will make sure the soil is fine and smooth. From now, you will see how interesting the old -fashion farming way is. However, you can have a big smile on when the first time you do rice farming in your life.
Wet Rice Farming in Hoi An
Our second step is to learn how to wade into the rice paddies, roll up your sleeves, and join the host in tilling the soil and planting the rice seedlings into the field. Therefore, you will put rice plants right into the mud, keep them in the straight line.
Upon finishing, we then cycle back to his house then you will try to thresh the rice seeds from the plant; mill to have the best quality rice. You can use all very basic tools which were created hundreds of years ago by our ancestors; using most of the natural sources such as bamboo, wood and stone.
As soon as we finish, we will cycle to the beach area and then jump into a fishing boat, heading out to the river where fishing activities happen.
So, you will first take beautiful pictures of local fishing village along the way. Reaching the place, you will get on a little boat to come to a bamboo hut to sit on and learn how to drop the fishing the net down into the river. Next, using your feet and hands to lift the fishing net up. Once you tie up the net, then use a basket boat to open the bottom of the net to get your harvesting.
The next activity is to go further up and we will meet fishermen on the way. Later, you will jump into his boat and he will teach you how to cast the fishing net into the river. Make sure balance yourself on the boat and hopefully you are a lucky fisherman today.
