As you know, Hue is a serene beautiful in central Vietnam. Hue was the capital of the country from 1802 to 1945 in the Nguyen Dynasty. This last feudalism had built lots of construction buildings, temples, palaces, pagodas…creating the Complex of Hue Monuments. Coming to Hue today, travelers can have an opportunity to explore this real authentic Vietnamese city and know all about the former royal life in the old times.

Spectacular Hai Van Pass

In order to start our journey, in the morning our local guide and driver will come and meet you up at your hotel in Da Nang then we begin our Da Nang to Hue Tour.

Our next stop on the way is imposing Hai Van Pass. Hence, this pass is one the most spectacular pass and imposing ones in Vietnam. In sunny days, we will have such a picturesque scenery of the area. From up high, we can have a panoramic view of Da Nang as well as Da Nang Bay in a far distance.

As we reach the top, you can have some free time to wander off around and sightseeing some of old relics which were built by the Nguyen Emperors to defend for themselves and made it as the southern defensive point for the Citadel in Hue. Even from here, you can see some of the war relics such as Watching Towers and especially US bunkers that they set up in the war to control this area.

Next, to continue our Hue Day Trip from Da Nang, we then follow this snaking road to go down and make another stop at Lang Co town. This is an attractive spot for every tourist as you can have a full view of the village and see how amazing the mountain is! At this point, your camera is ready to grab some of the nicest pictures.

Later on, we are then heading off directly to Hue city. Thus, we will pass through rustic villages of Hue and realize the local life of Vietnamese people. Sometimes, you might see some water buffaloes en route and at your request, we can stop in a while for you to photograph this strong animal. Somehow, you also see some farmers working in the field and since then you will know more of our wet rice culture cultivation.

Upon reaching Hue city, we then first sightseeing a typical Buddist pagoda in Hue – Thien Mu Pagoda ( Heavenly Lady Pagoda). Thus, this relic was built on a top of the hill and overlook the Perfume river – the nicest and romantic river in Hue. It is said that many Nguyen Emperors came here in the old times for poetry and relaxation.

Located in the front is a 7-level Phuoc Duyen tower with small pavilions on both sides carved with some poems from Nguyen Emperors. As we move further in, we will see a triple gate with some standing gate keepers and then Dai Hung Sanctuary. It is the place where the local people as well as Buddist monks come here to pray daily.

Besides, this 400-year-old spot is a home to many novices and homeless children. Buddist monks had come to collect and raise them up. To end this place, we then go to the back and visit the old car that superior monk used for his self-immolation in Saigon in 1963.

To move on our Da Nang to Hue Tour, we then go to Hue Citadel – a former head quarters of Nguyen Dynasty. Therefore, this 500-hectare complex has 3 walled cities from outside to inside: The Citadel, The Imperial city and The Forbidden city. The Nguyen family had spent 27 years in building it and they completed the construction in 1832. Hence, it became the symbol of royalty from Nguyen as well as a center for living quarters, religious ceremonies and defensive fortress for all royal members. Although the site was heavily damaged in Tet Offensive in 1968 but many buildings and palaces still survived.

As the guide briefly tell you the history, we then stroll around this massive complex and pay a visit to Noon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, Forbidden City, Truong Sanh Palace…So through the story of your tour guide, you will know about the royal life in the ancient times and find out some typical architectures of the buildings here.

To move on our Hue Full Day Tour from Da Nang, we then take you to a local restaurant for lunch. You can sample some of Hue’s finest cuisines.

After lunch, the car driver will transfer us to see one of the masterpieces in architecture in Hue – Khai Dinh Tomb.

This is one of the most typical mosaic architectures in Hue in 19th century. So, the construction of the tomb began in 1920 and it took almost 11 years to finish it. From a far, Khai Dinh Tomb looks like a splendid castle in Europe. By the way, it became the final resting spot for the Emperor.

Then, on arrival here, we then walk up many stairs and sightseeing Honor Courtyard with statues of mandarins, soldiers and animals. Located in the middle is a big Memorial set up by Bao Dai to worship his father. To continue, we then walk up more stairs and visit Khai Thanh Palace with beautiful mosaic architecture and it was where the Emperors’ remains buried.
