Hue was the ancient capital city of Vietnam in the Nguyen Dynasty. In 1802, Emperor Gia Long had chosen Hue as the capital. Under this last dynasty of Vietnam, several Emperors of Nguyen had built lots of temples, palaces, pagodas, tombs ect. On Dec 11th, 1993, Hue Monument Complex was recognized as the World Cultural Heritage of Vietnam.
Though the war devastated the city, especially Tet Offensive ruined most of historical buildings but the people of Hue had constantly rebuilt it and made Hue festival city of Vietnam and the ASEAN Peace City.
